BIG IDEAS

Thomas Hobbes big idea was the social contract theory.

John Locke big idea was the natural rights.

Cesare Beccaria big idea was torture. He did not like it.

Baron de Montesquieu big idea was to make sure one government doesn’t overpower the others.

1. I liked John Locke big idea because we are born with natural rights like life, liberty, and pursuit to happiness.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau big idea was that individual can have rights too.

Benjamin Franklin bg idea was about electricity.

Thomas Jefferson big idea was colonies should be free from Britain.

Voltaire big idea was freedom of speech, press and religion and opposition to monarchy, militarism and slavery.

2. I liked  Benjamin Franklin big idea because not just couples can have right but so can individual.

Mary Wollstonecraft big idea was that women should be treated equally just as men are.

Adam Smith big idea was that the government should stay away from the economy.

Father Hidalgo big idea was war.

Simon Bolivar big idea was about liberty.

3. I liked        Mary       Wollstonecraft big idea because she talks about how women are not being treated equally as men are.

Thinkers called philosophes. Philosophers in french. Philosophes were public intellectuals who applied reason to study of many areas of learning, including philosophy, history, sciences, politics, economics, and social issues.

People are born with natural rights.

Rights that people supposedly have under natural law. Those where life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.

Absolutism

Something you believe from the government's.

The acceptance of or belief in absolute principles in political, philosophical, ethical, or theological matters.

 

Liberty

Authority wants one’s way life.

The state of being within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way life, behavior,  or political views.

Deism

People that believe in religious and God.

Belief in the existence of God based solely on natural reason, without reference to revelation.
